How do I know that the trainer is appropriately qualified?

All general induction training conducted under the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work (National Code) is conducted by WorkCover approved RTO's and their nominated trainers. RTO's are issued with a WorkCover approval number which should be available to you as verification of the RTO's status.

How often will I have to do training?

Your OHS induction training ceases to be current if you have not carried out construction work for any consecutive period of two years or more, since completing training.

Work activity based health and safety induction training is required whenever there are changes to the construction work activities undertaken or when you re-enter the industry after an absence of two or more years.

Can my Statement of Training or Construction Induction Card be cancelled?

According to clause 220C of the OHS Regulation 2001, WorkCover may cancel an OHS induction training certificate (Statement of Training or Construction Induction Card) if it was obtained on the basis of false or misleading information or a failure to disclose or provide required information.

Fines of up to $11,000 may be imposed for false declarations.
